Made by hand but not crafty today!

Based on this recipe:

Breakfast pie

1 (12 ounce) package ground pork sausage

½ cup chopped bacon or ham (if on hand)

4 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 (8 ounce) package Cheddar cheese, shredded

salt and pepper to taste

1 pinch white sugar

1 (9 inch) unbaked deep dish pie crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage, and cook until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.  Repeat with bacon.  Set aside with ham.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. Stir in shredded cheese. Season with salt, pepper and sugar.
  4. Spread meat mixture in the bottom of crust. Cover with egg mixture, and shake lightly to remove air, and to level contents.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until filling is puffed and golden brown. Remove from oven, prick top with a knife, and let cool 10 minutes before serving.  Crusts will usually brown so cover with foil if you like.

We have added spinach, and chopped tomatoes if we have them at times and love it this way.  The kids usually eat it with syrup over the top or fresh preserves.
