Come out THIS SATURDAY, August 3rd at 2:30 to “Welcome Home” one of our own Home Town Heroes, Sgt. Doug Vitale at the VFW Post 764 on Valley Brook Drive – Actual ceremony to start 2:45. Bring out your Red, White and Blue and cheer on this True American Hero as he arrives back for the first time since his injuries.

Sgt. Doug Vitale was leading his squad on patrol on September 25th, 2011 when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan, causing him to lose both legs above the knee, as well as causing strokes on both sides of his brain. Since then, Doug, with his wife Alexis by his side, has been part of the Polytrauma Rehabilitation program for brain injuries in Tampa Florida. Please ask your friends and family to help us welcome Sgt. Doug Vitale home.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Gary Sinise Foundation, along with the citizens of Pittsburgh are also set to honor Sgt. Vitale with a Lt. Dan Band Benefit Concert at Stage AE on August 9th. All proceeds of this event will go towards building a “Smart Home” in Peter’s Township for Doug and his wife, Alexis. Tickets are still available at http://www.OperationDoug.com.
