Pastor opened today with this scripture.

John 10:10 NIV The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

As we approach the New Year, we think about New Things. This verse does not tell us that we will have properity ahead. He explained that one, we are warned that there is a thief. Existing only to make you miserable and kill you. He then gave us the comfort that there is also a promise here, there is a shepherd who is called to care and protect for us. Like the sheep, we receive comfort from hearing the voice of a shepherd we know. Our shepherd, Jesus, layed down His life for us.

He went on to talk about the #EPIC year. He gave us the definitions of #epic: – a story about a hero or about an exciting event or adventure – idea that something is extending beyond the usual or the ordinary

He referenced the Christmas series we went through about No Ordinary Story. He encouraged us to join his family in living an #epic year. And to go beyond where we are. To chase the vision of Harvest Church and fulfill our purpose statement. To strive together to accomplish what God has called us to do in 2014.

We concluded the service by starting the New Year in celebrating the Lord’s Supper together.
